London Elementary Design retail design firm was responsible for design, manufacture and install a Harrods window to
promote the art and culture of Qatar. Harrods has been owned by Qatar Holdings, a Fund of the State of Qatar wealth
since 2010. The window invites people to visit the In-Q cafe and a gift shop on the second floor ofthe Department store.
Gary Porter, the founder of Elemental Design, has strong relationships with Harrodsand visited Qatar to learn about the
culture and to gain inspiration for this campaign. In its design the traditional mosaic pattern becomes contemporary 3D
sculpture created by layers of geometric frames of high specification and a faceted wall of gold. In-Q logo is located in
the Center.
I have visited the design firm to have look of peak in the stages of construction of the campaign window. The change
was very fast and I saw that most of the elementshad been completed at facilities only a day before the night of
installation.
Above is a prototype for faceted gold and panel under panel of gold coming into the workshops.
Metallurgy that is sprayed and just.
I met Gary in his recent work for clients such as Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Westfield London, Museum of Islamic art… The list is long and impressive. His experience
includes the store out of adjustment, as well as window screens and can see through design, manufacture and final delivery. Take a look at their new web site
and blog at Elemental.co.uk.
